Each RoundUp session is limited to 150 students. Any student who attempts to register after capacity has been met will be added to a waitlist should space open. Register fast!

Students must be prepared to submit their participation fee in order to finalize their registration.

Registration will open in April 2026.

Cost
The cost for RoundUp will be updated soon. The fee will cover 2 nights lodging, food and beverage, swag, transportation, and other general operation costs. Students will also need to cover their own transportation cost to and from their home and campus. 

Refund
A 50% refund will be granted to students who cancel before the session registration deadline.

Yes. Although nearly all expenses are covered for the duration of RoundUp, there will be opportunity for students to spend money on additional food, souvenirs, or activities.

Students may apply for a participation fee waiver (limited supply). Waivers are reserved for students who have demonstrated financial need and take a great interest in participating in RoundUp. 

If you are concerned with locking in your spot, you can submit payment when registration opens and then apply for the fee waiver. If your application is approved, we will refund your payment.

RoundUp is an optional program open to incoming first-year students who have submitted their enrollment deposit.

No, although Mustang StartUp tasks should be completed before students move-in, they do not have to be completed to participate in RoundUp.

Each session will have a theme students may choose from. Sessions 1 and 3 are sports themed and Session 2 is Discover Dallas themed.

Each RoundUp session will begin with a check-in period from 2-3 p.m. on the first day of the session. RoundUp programming will conclude no later than 4 p.m. on the last day of the session. If you plan on flying to a Dallas/Fort Worth airport, make sure to consider travel time between the airport and campus to arrive at check-in on time.

There are no planned activities for early arrivals. You are welcome to explore campus, but RoundUp will officially begin during the scheduled check-in time.

Students will be housed at a local Dallas hotel near SMU’s campus and will room with another student in their hotel room. Roommate assignments will be released during the first day of RoundUp.

Students should pack for 3 days and 2 nights preferably in comfortable summer clothing. A full packing list will be added to the website later this spring.

Stampede occurs the week prior to classes beginning and involves the entire new student class. Activities range from social programming to academic preparation.

RoundUp occurs before students move-in and is more focused on creating connection between new students, preparing them for life in college, and introducing them to the Dallas area.

RoundUp will be supervised by Orientation and Transitions staff, as well as volunteer faculty, staff, and several student leaders serving as RoundUp Facilitators.

No, students participating in RoundUp should plan to stay for the duration of the program.

Students that plan on parking a vehicle on campus for the duration of the program will be granted a temporary parking permit to park their vehicles in a secured parking garage on campus. Once check-in is completed, students will be transported to a hotel via charter bus.
