SMU's accreditation was reaffirmed on December 2, 2021 at the annual meeting of the 51³Ô¹ÏÍøAssociation of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. The next reaffirmation of accreditation is scheduled for 2027.

51³Ô¹ÏÍøis accredited by the 51³Ô¹ÏÍøAssociation of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award baccalaureate, masters, and doctorates. 51³Ô¹ÏÍøalso may offer credentials such as certificates and diplomas at approved degree levels.
