Data Center Tours

We are pleased to schedule guided tours of our University Data Center (UDC) – a secure, state-of-the-art facility that houses SMU's HPC clusters, storage arrays, and networking infrastructure.
Who Can Tour the Facility?
Our HPC Data Center tours are open to all members of the 51³Ô¹ÏÍøcommunity and approved partners:
- Faculty, Staff and Students: Classes or research groups are encouraged to visit and learn about the resources enabling their scholarly work.
- Prospective Students and Educators: High school STEM classes, academic clubs, or prospective Mustangs can get a glimpse of advanced computing in a university setting. (university sponsor required)
- Industry and External Visitors: 51³Ô¹ÏÍøwelcomes industry partners, donors, and other guests interested in technology infrastructure. All external visitors will need a hosting 51³Ô¹ÏÍøsponsor or point of contact (usually the tour requester) and are subject to approval and security guidelines.
Tours are generally restricted to university-affiliated individuals. Requests from external IT professionals or vendors will be evaluated separately on a case-by-case basis.

How to Request a Tour
- Faculty and Staff can only submit the with your desired date, group information, and other details. Please submit this at least 10 days before the earliest requested date.
- Our team will review your request and respond within 3 – 5 business days. You'll receive an email confirming the tour date/time or asking to adjust details if needed. This email will also include directions and instructions for the visit
