Overview of the 51³Ô¹ÏÍøCox Master of Science in Real Estate
The Cox School of Business MSRE curriculum was crafted by industry-savvy practitioners to ensure program graduates are fully prepared for a successful career in real estate. The coursework was crafted by award-winning real estate academics and industry-savvy practitioners, ensuring it's academically rigorous and its caliber is unmatched. The program’s core curriculum provides:
- A comprehensive understanding of the industry’s foundational concepts, including finance, economics, law, and risk management
- Intensive training in industry software programs like Argus and Excel
- Practical experience through an internship or Capstone project
- A complement of business courses designed to strengthen your ability to navigate corporate environments and complex business relationships
Students who complete the program will be well-prepared for careers in Real Estate Investment Management, Real Estate Development, Real Estate Brokerage, and roles in the Real Estate Capital Markets.
The MSRE is offered in Full-Time and Part-Time formats, which require 31 credit hours to complete if no prerequisite hours are necessary. The Full-Time degree can be earned in nine months, in four seven-week modules across two semesters (two modules per semester).
The Part-Time degree can be earned in 18 months, in eight seven-week modules across four semesters (two modules per semester). There is no difference in the course curriculum, but students enrolled in the Part-Time program will take evening courses with a lighter course load per module than students in the Full-Time program. Part-time students will have one daytime course on Fridays during their fall semester of their second year in the program.
Students entering the program from other areas of expertise may need to complete prerequisite courses in Managerial Finance and Financial Accounting I, before starting core coursework in the fall. These classes represent an additional 2-4 credit hours (determined in admissions evaluation). All prerequisites will be offered during the summer semester preceding fall entry. Your Admissions Advisor will be able to help you determine whether these courses are necessary based on your undergraduate coursework and relevant work experience.
