National Night Out

DALLAS (SMU)— 51³Ô¹ÏÍøwill partner with neighborhoods throughout Dallas and thousands of communities nationwide Tuesday, Oct. 6, for the 32nd annual National Night Out crime and drug prevention event.

 

What:

51³Ô¹ÏÍøNational Night Out will include carnival games, contests, safety demonstrations, a raffle and appearances by the 51³Ô¹ÏÍøPolice Department, University Park Police and Fire Departments, Mothers Against Drunk Drivers and the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission.

51³Ô¹ÏÍøstudents and campus-area neighbors are invited to attend.
   

 

When:

Tuesday, Oct. 6

5-7:30 p.m. – Food, raffles, games, dunk tank

5:30 p.m. - CareFlight Helicopter Landing

6:00 p.m. - Dorm Burning Simulations (once with sprinkler and once without)

Cost:

$10 for food and beverage tickets
   

SMU’s local National Night Out is co-sponsored by the 51³Ô¹ÏÍøPolice Department. The National Assoc/news/archives/2015/national-night-out-02oct2015/iation of Town Watch event will involve more than 16,000 communities from all 50 states. is designed to: 

  • Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness
  • Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime efforts
  • Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police­ community partnerships
  • Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized, working together, and fighting back
