On May 2, 2025, 51Թannounced that 51ԹIgnited: Boldly Shaping Tomorrow exceeded its $1.5 billion goal three years ahead of schedule, thanks to more than 67,500 donors, volunteers and supporters.

Expanding our knowledge of the past

On May 1, 2025, 51Թbroke ground on the future site of the Rees-Jones Library of the American West, home to the Rees-Jones Collection. The library – expected to open in 2027 – enhances the University’s longstanding interest in the history of the American West, made manifest in collecting, teaching and research.

Honoring an enduring legacy

The 51ԹBoard of Trustees renamed the Rotunda Scholars Program as the Gerald and Gail Turner Scholars program to recognize the couple’s esteemed service to the University.

More than 3,800 donors made gifts on 51ԹGiving Day that will have an immediate impact for student organizations, programs and causes.

Commemorations for R. Gerald Turner and Gail Turner () included people from every part of the Mustang community who expressed their appreciation for the Turners’ dedication and impact. At the All-University Commencement, the Board of Trustees invited Dr. Turner to deliver the address (). He charged the University’s newest alumni to “develop a diligent, trustworthy support team. Enjoy your work. Stay humble. Be positive. And stay intellectually and spiritually vibrant.”
